Meet the Artist:
Kathleen Mitchell Johnston
Looking around at the Museum’s inspiring space, it was easy to draw from the vibrant movement of the existing environment to illustrate this idea. Lines, shapes, and colors play as they intersect, flip, and balance to encourage your imagination. Kathleen is a local artist originally from Roanoke, Virginia. She was an educator in the public schools for many years. She is passionate about helping others tap into their creativity and develop a lifelong love of art.

Meet the Artist:
Kim Juda Souder, a local painter, created our Appalachian Trail mural. This educational and beautiful scene connects the museum’s first and second floors. She included many plants and animals that can be found in the Shenandoah Valley, with the hope of inspiring a love of nature within the children and adults who visit Explore More.
