Calling YOUTH ARTISTS - AppLY TODAY!
We are excited to offer a third year of our Artist Apprenticeship Program for aspiring young artists, ages 8-12. In this unique program, small groups of students will be paired with local professional artists who will serve as their mentors over a series of 4 weeks.
Students will receive in-depth instruction from their mentor artist, and then both will spend time creating work to display. It is our goal to guide youth participants throughout the entire process from beginning to critiquing, refining, and showcasing their work. This program will culminate with a gallery showing and reception during a downtown First Friday event. Invited guests and community members will have the opportunity to see works from both students and their artist mentors. Artist mentors will share pieces of their work with the community as well!
DETAILS:
The program will be limited to 12-16 youth participants (ages 8 - 12) who are willing to commit the time and work necessary to create their best art work.
The time commitment will be four weekly sessions, held on Wednesday evenings in February from 6 - 8 PM beginning in February and culminating with an art show on March 7, during First Fridays.
There is a $100 fee and the Museum will provide all materials for classes and the gallery showing. Scholarships are available based on demonstrated need. Please contact us for more information. The fee is due at the time the student accepts the invitation to participate, not with the initial application. Please note that past participants are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to first-time participants.
