Calling local Artists…

We’re looking for local artists who want to share their talents with the next generation! In this unique program, youth participants will be paired with professional artists who will serve as mentors to their students over a series of 4 weeks.

Students will receive in-depth instruction from their mentor artist and then both will spend time creating work to display. It is our goal to guide youth participants throughout the entire process from beginning to critiquing, refining, and showcasing their work. This program will culminate with a gallery showing and reception during a downtown First Friday event. Invited guests and community members will have the opportunity to see works from both students and their artist mentors. Artist mentors will be encouraged to share other pieces of their work with the community as well!

The program will be limited to 12-15 youth participants who are willing to commit the time and work necessary to create their best art work. It is our goal to have no more than 2-3 youth paired with each artist. There will be a $250 stipend offered to selected professional artists.

The time commitment will be four weekly sessions, held on Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 6 - 8 PM beginning in February and culminating with an art show on April 7, during First Fridays, plus any prep work required. The museum will provide all materials needed.

If you are interested in participating as a mentor artist, please fill out the form on the link below and we look forward to chatting with you soon!

This program is made possible through an Advancing the Arts Grant from Arts Council of the Valley and is being spearheaded by professional artist and educator Wendy Lam.
