Maker City Guidelines

We are excited to relaunch Maker City with a new twist! This 1,250 sq. ft studio workshop offers a place where youth makers (8+) can design, invent, and create using real tools - the same materials and processes used by artists, builders, programmers, and entrepreneurs! Maker City is now open by reservation only. See calendar and registration information HERE.

See safety guidelines and waiver below. Reminder: you must complete and turn in the participation waiver on or before your child’s first Club session.

GUIDELINES & BEST PRACTICES

Here are the details and steps we are taking to help ensure the safest Maker City experience for your children.

BEST PRACTICES (based on CDC Covid-19 mitigation best practices)

1. Maker City will be completely sanitized prior to each session.

2. Staff members and Maker Club participants will wear masks at all times.

3. Hand washing/sanitizing will take place between activities.

4. Activities will be planned to promote social distancing and limited sharing of materials.

5. If other activities take place within the facility, students will never be in those locations. We are creating a cohort of club participants and they will not be in situations where others are in the mix.

6. Parents will be asked to complete a waiver of participation.

7. While we are normally fine with parents staying in Maker City during programs and workshops, we are not able to accommodate this while limiting our numbers and following social distancing guidelines.

8. Upon arrival, we will also ask parents to ensure that they can answer NO to the following questions: Has your child or anyone in your household had a temperature in the last 24 hours; experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms; suffered from a chronic cough; tested positive for the COVID-19 virus or been around anyone that has tested positive?
If your child is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, please contact us and DO NOT bring them to club that day.
Museum staff will also be asked to answer these questions and will have temperatures taken daily, prior to the start of the workday.

Please feel free to contact us with schedule changes, questions, or ways we can provide the best possible experience for your child.
