Keeping summer campers safe!
Here’s What you Need to Know
During our summer camp sessions, group sizes will be limited to better serve the needs of individual students and to maintain a low adult to child ratio.
GUIDELINES & BEST PRACTICES
We will continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation in our area and will adapt guidelines in the months ahead to promote the safest experience. Since camp is still months away, we are unable to determine whether masks will be required or not. Please see our current plan for mask phasing
1. The Museum and camp meeting spaces will be completely sanitized prior to each camp session.
2. Staff members and campers will wear masks during class sessions. During times when campers are having snack and spaced more than 10 feet apart, we will give the opportunity to take mask breaks while also emphasizing proper procedures for putting on and taking off masks. Staff will wear masks at all times.
3. Handwashing/sanitizing will take place between activities.
4. Activities will be planned to promote social distancing and limited sharing of materials.
5. We will use all three floors to better spread out and maximize airflow. Campers will not be in contact with others who are not participating in their class.
6. Children who participate must be independently toilet-trained. Due to social distancing requirements, staff cannot provide any extra assistance.
7. Contact us if your child has separation issues or other concerns that may make safety guidelines difficult to follow. While we would normally welcome every child, current regulations make it difficult to provide the comfort and support that a child might need when separating.
8. Prior to the start of class, parents will be asked to complete a waiver of participation.
9. Upon arrival, children will have their temperature taken with a touchless thermometer. We will also ask parents the following questions: Has your child or anyone in your household had a temperature in the last 24 hours; experienced any cold or flu-like symptoms; suffered from a chronic cough; tested positive for the COVID-19 virus or been around anyone that has tested positive?
Museum staff will also be asked to answer these questions and will have temperatures taken daily, prior to the start of the work day.
MASKS & YOUNG CHILDREN: We know that in an ideal world, children would be free to explore, discover and create without the extra layer of cloth to protect others. For now, based on the CDC guidelines and our commitment to keep our everyone healthy, we are asking all campers to wear masks and class teachers and assistants will wear masks as well.
Children should bring their own masks to ensure best fit and comfort. Please spend time preparing them for this safety practice and remind them that they are helping to keep their camp friends healthy. If you are unable to provide a mask, let us know and we’ll be happy to assist you.
