MUSEUM GUEST SERVICES - PLAY FACILITATOR

The Explore More Discovery Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and families, and a commitment to creating a fun, educational, and welcoming environment for all visitors.

Hours: Part-time, 15 - 25 hours per week, including Saturdays and occasional evenings, flexible staffing to accommodate student schedules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Staging Exhibits:

  • Set up and maintain interactive exhibits according to museum standards.

  • Ensure exhibits are engaging, safe, and clean.

  • Provide feedback and ideas to enhance the play experience

2. Maintaining the Museum Environment:

  • Keep all public areas clean and tidy, including exhibits, play areas, and common spaces.

  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate personnel.

  • Restock supplies and materials as needed.

3. Assisting Families:

  • Provide a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors.

  • Answer questions and provide information about the museum's exhibits and programs.

  • Assist families with special needs to ensure an inclusive experience.

4. Engaging Children in Play:

  • Facilitate and encourage interactive play among children.

  • Lead and supervise programs that are both fun and educational.

  • Promote positive social interactions among children.

5. Supporting Programs + Administration:

  • Assist with the setup, execution, and cleanup of museum programs and events.

  • Provide support during workshops, special events, birthday parties and educational programs.

  • Assist with front desk duties as needed (visitor check-in, answer calls)

  • Ability to prioritize and implement multiple tasks

  • Servant leader, willing to work with the team to ensure the best Museum experience

  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities

INTERNSHIPS

Maker City - A Makerspace for YOUTH 8+

Maker City Interns will have an opportunity to work in the museum makerspace designed for youth ages 8+. Applicants should have prior experience in one or more of the following skill areas: laser cutting, vinyl cutting, graphic design, sewing and fabric arts, fine arts, woodworking, web design, videography and photo editing. Applicants should also enjoy working with children in the target age group and work well in a collaborative environment. 


Nonprofit Studies Intern

The Explore More Discovery Museum is offering an exciting internship opportunity for students majoring or minoring in Nonprofit Studies. This paid internship provides a unique hands-on experience in various aspects of nonprofit management, including guest services, program assistance, special events, development, and administration. This internship is a great opportunity for students looking to gain practical experience while contributing to a vibrant community resource.
