What I'm learning
- Physical Development:
I am learning how to use my gross motor skills in new ways. I am strengthening my fine motor skills by using kitchen utensils.
- Literacy and Language:
I am learning how to name new kitchen items and different types of fruits and vegetables. I am learning pre-literacy skills.
- Social Learning:
I am learning how to talk to others when I sell pretend items at the market. I am learning how to be respectful and work with others.
- Reasoning and Problem Solving:
When I prepare meals, I am learning how to work through new problems and how to organize. When I buy and sell items I am learning how to use an exchange system.
Play & Learn Together:
- Physical Development:
Help your child use the step stool. Open and close the cabinets, refrigerator and dishwasher to explore different kitchen items.
- Literacy and Language:
Flip through the cookbooks with your child and point out familiar words and pictures.
- Social Learning:
Encourage your child to buy and sell items at the market with other children.
- Reasoning and Problem Solving:
Use play money to purchase items from the market, then have your child total up the money and place it in the cash register.
